Lot Description

A George III silver vinaigrette, the oblong form with canted corners, the hinged lid with vermicular engraving and vacant cartouche, the underside with foliate engraving within a pricked border, the case opening to a silver-gilt interior with pierced grille. Hallmarked Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham 1811. Length measuring 2.6 cm, weight 8.8 grams.

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor dints and bumps. Some rubbing to the engraved decoration. Possible removal of an engraving to the cartouche. Gilding to the interior appears worn. Hinge a touch loose but overall in good working order. The hallmarks only present to the inner lid are clear and legible.
