Lot Description

A late eighteenth century Russian silver open salt, the compressed circular body embossed with scrolled cartouche and raised on three stylised hoof feet. City mark for Moscow with further Cyrillic and Latin marks. Rim diameter measures 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm), weight 2.64 ozt (82.2 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Small surface dints and bumps throughout. Knocks to feet so that they are a little compressed and bent. City mark is clearly legible, other marks are a little distorted.
