A George III oak-cased 8-day brass dial longcase clock
(Josiah?) Stringer, Stockport, circa 1760
The 12-inch square dial, signed 'Stringer Stockport', having Roman hours, Arabic minutes and fleur-de-lis half hour divisions plus inner quarter hour track framing a matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring at XII, ringed winding arbors and terrestrial calendar at VI within scroll-engraved surround and winged cherub mask spandrels, the two-train movement with four knopped and finned pillars striking on a bell, the case with caddy top over lunette frieze and sunken fluted columns, the long door with lenticle on plain base, 81", (206cm) high.

Movement appears relatively honest and untouched bu an overhaul is recommended.
Case lacks finials and has a vertical split to trunk door. Moulded base may be alter addition.
