Lot 101

Lot Description

A twentieth century Chinese export silver tea service, comprising a teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug of bulbous form and raised on three stylised paw feet, and a similarly decorated cup on footed base, all decorated in low relief with trailing chrysanthemum and peony flowers on leafy branches and against a stippled ground, the teapot and sugar having domed, removable lids. Character marks for Bao Xiang, Beijing, also mark for 'fine silver'. Teapot length measuring 8 1/2 inches (21.5 cm), gross weight 26.41 ozt (821.7 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The tea service appears in a very tarnished state and would benefit from a clean and polish. General surface wear, marks and scratches. Visible solder around seam lines and further small solder repairs. A few minor dints and bumps. Some rubbing to character marks but still legible. The removable lids sit quite well, although they appear to be unmarked.
