Lot Description
A late Victorian matched silver cream jug and sugar bowl, each of embossed and fluted form with engraved crest cartouche and personal inscriptions to the base, the cream jug with zoomorphic handle, both in fitted case (lacking spoons), hallmarked James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler, London 1892. Together with a set of four eighteenth century silver salt spoons, each with shell bowls and crested terminals, hallmarks almost completely worn and not legible, plus two silver mustard spoons. Gross weight 6.1 ozt (191 grams).

Condition Report
In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The cream jug and sugar bowl are engraved with a unicorn above a crown and with the inscription 'William Rowland Beatty Smyth From His Grandmother Smyth 20th March 1893' to the base, also marked with the retailer 'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company 112 Regent St', hallmarks slightly rubbed but clear and legible, some losses and wear to the fitted case which shuts fully flush. The three of the four salt spoons has bright silver-gilt bowls, one is lacking, varying loss of definition and wear to the engraved stems and crested terminals with some minor bends, hallmarks almost completely worn and not legible, one has a partial lion passant and maker's mark which is indistinct. One of the two mustard spoons has an engraved monogram and date to the terminal, hallmarks clear and legible to both.
