Lot Description
A George IV silver christening mug, of typical plain form with embossed floral banding to the upper body leading to a high arch scroll capped handle, personal inscription beneath the base, the whole raised upon a circular gadrooned foot, hallmarked Joseph Angell I, London 1824, height inclusive of handle measures 3 6/8 inches (9.5 cm). Together with a small silver bowl with crimped rim edge and embossed foliate decoration leading to a central vacant cartouche, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield probably 1965. Gross weight 5.2 ozt (161.7 grams).

Condition Report
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There is a patch visible to the front of the mug, which can also be seen and felt inside, it has a silver-gilt interior with visible nicks and scratches and is engraved 'Natasha 29.9.67' beneath the base, hallmarks clear and legible. The bowl has a vacant cartouche with some sticky residue to the base, hallmarks rubbed and worn but still just legible.
