Lot Description
An Edwardian silver scent bottle case, of dual hinged oval form depicting five cherubs, opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior (missing scent bottle), together with an associated chain, case hallmarked 1902 assumed Birmingham, maker's mark rubbed probably Henry Matthews, chain double stamped 925, length of case measures 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm), gross weight 2.2 ozt (69.7 grams).

Condition Report
In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The scent bottle is not present, minor bumps and dents to the case which shuts but not fully flush and the top hook clip is slightly bent. Silver-gilt interior has dirt residue. Hallmarks heavily worn, only part of the maker's mark visible and the date mark to the back of the case, lion passant and date mark clear and legible to the front, same partial hallmarks to the interior of the lid, assumed Birmingham. Possible further mis-struck maker's mark to the neck of the case. The chain is double stamped 925 alongside the common control mark, maker's mark and town mark possibly Birmingham.
