Lot Description
A late Georgian 15ct gold garnet and split pearl memorial ring. The oval garnet cabochon, with split pearl surround and shoulders, the half-band with 'in memory of' script. Ring size Q1/2. Weight 5.2gms.

Condition Report
<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Band shows evidence of repair/ resize, solder lines and pitting marks visible, slightly out of shape.
<li>Outer band with inscription 'in memory of' possibly a later addition to the ring.
<li>Personal engraving to reverse of ring head reads 'Charlotte Sarah Raikes died 31 Mar 1823 aged 23'.
<li>Garnet is a medium deep purplish-pink, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.<p>
<li>Garnet is in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the surface.<p>
<li>Split pearls are fairly well matched, creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones, in fairly good condition with minor abrasions..
<li>Length of ring head 1.3cms.
