Lot 315

Lot Description

A continental figure, modelled as a parrot with realistic feather detail, perched on a small branch with removable head and hinged wings (one detached), raised upon a hardstone column with applied garland motifs, leading to a spread circular base with foliate border. Marked with Hanau-puesdo marks for B. Neresheimer & Sohne, Hanau (1893- ) alongside probable French export marks. Maximum height measuring 10 6/8 inches (27.5 cm).

In overall fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The right wing is present but detached from the body as it has split from the hinge, appears to be quite a clean break, in need of repair and attention. The left wing appears to have suffered the same break to the wing, with a repair visible to either side of the wing and a crude flood of solder underneath, causing some loss of definition around this area. The hardstone column wobbles and rotates in the base, the nut and bolt beneath the base needs tightening. Some pieces of the parrots tail are slightly bent and creased, the same to the wing feathers causing them to appear slightly out of alignment. Marks beneath the base, around the neck and to the head, which appear clear and legible.
