Lot Description
An early twentieth century silver presentation key, the scroll pierced terminal with applied twin opposed shield cartouches, both with presentation inscriptions, contained within a fitted case, hallmarked William James Dingley, Birmingham 1910, length measuring 5 5/8 inches (14.4 cm). Together with an smaller Edwardian silver-gilt example, also with applied twin opposed shield cartouches, with engraved monogram to the front and engraved initials and date verso, hallmarked Vaughton & Sons, Birmingham 1908. Gross weight 3.4 ozt (107.4 grams). (2).

Condition Report
In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The larger key is engraved 'County Borough of Stockport Alderman A.Briggs Mayor Presented to Councillor George Ball July 16th 1910' and On the Opening of Reddish Park Recreation Ground' verso. The smaller example is engraved with a monogram and 'N. H. W. S. S March 20th 1909' verso, the silver-gilt appears more tarnished on the back. Hallmarks clear and legible.
