In poor to fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Significant loss of definition to the engine-turned decoration on the Edwardian example, minor bumps to the outer case, the press release is in working order and platform holder has a good spring when pushed, the platform compartment is dated 1913 with splits and dents to the silver, hallmarks clear and legible, partial hallmarks to various sections. The late Victorian example requires attention, it has no interior sprung platform holder, the press release is not present or working as such the case is difficult to open, the hinge is loose and has sideways movement, significant dents to the outer case, hallmarks slightly rubbed and worn but still legible, no maker's mark visible.
