Lot 345

Lot Description

A pair of German silver mounted and cork bottle stoppers, each modelled as a cherub, one holding a dead bird with a rifle slung across his back and the other holding aloft an open scroll, both marked 800 alongside the reichsmark, height measuring 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm). Together with a WMF bottle stopper modelled as a monk (cork deficient), and six silver plate and cork bottle stoppers depicting various characters from Charles Dicken's novels. (9).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the bottle stoppers appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches. Also some tarnishing and all would benefit from a clean and polish. The cherubs on the German pair were probably once gilded but this has now faded and worn. A couple of likely losses and repairs to cherubs. One is also further marked to one leg, possibly a maker's mark?
