Lot Description

A set of late Victorian silver fish eaters and a matching set of silver fruit knives and forks for twelve place settings, each set of Onslow pattern with crested cartouche to the terminals, both contained within a lockable mahogany and burr wood case with removable interior tray and inlaid brass cartouche to the top. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Sheffield, fish eaters dated 1898, fruit knives and forks dated 1895. (2).

In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Both sets are contained within original Mappin & Webb cases, the interior linings have some discolouration and wear, the lining underneath one of the removable trays is peeling off/creased, one key present, both has significant cracks to the wood on the lids running through/near the brass cartouches. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible, further marked Rd 72947.
