Lot 693

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver cream jug, of oval form with gadrooned rim, embossed floral and foliate motifs surrounding twin opposed vacant cartouches, above a lobed and fluted lower body, raised upon a reeded footed base. Hallmarked London 1894, maker's mark partly obscured probably W & G Sissons (William & George Sissons). Height measuring 3 6/8 inches (9.7 cm), weight 6.2 ozt (193.3 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Visible signs of repair to the top join of the handle, with loss of definition to the decoration, a slightly uneven surface and evidence of solder. Would benefit from a clean and possible. Maker's mark partly obscured, other hallmarks clear and legible.
