Lot Description

A late Victorian silver bachelor three piece tea service, comprising tea pot, twin-handled sucrier and cream jug, each of tapering and fluted oval form and engraved throughout with floral and foliate motifs. Hallmarked Walker & Hall (John Edward Bingham), Sheffield 1891. Maximum teapot length measuring 8 3/4 inches (22.2 cm), gross weight 26.32 ozt (818.8 grams).

Appears in good overall condition, each piece displaying general tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. A few minor edge nicks or dints. Slight loss of surface detail to areas of decoration but generally still good. Teapot with presentation engravings to oval panels, quite rubbed. The hinged lid appears in good working order although it rises slightly on one side when in closed position. Ivory insulators with cracks. Possible slight damage around the fixing pins and tip of handle. Hallmarks mostly clear and legible, with corresponding part hallmarks to various parts.
