Lot Description
A George II silver tankard, of cylindrical form with lower girdle above a flared base, having a domed and hinged lid with openwork thumb-piece and a scroll handle with scratch engraved initials 'W' over 'J . M', with later personal engraving to base. Hallmarked Fuller White, London 1750. Maximum height to thumb-piece measuring 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm), weight 23.34 ozt (726 grams).

Condition Report
Appears tarnished throughout with surface markings from the tissue paper it has been wrapped in, and would benefit from a clean and polish. Displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches throughout commensurate with the general use and age of the piece. Numerous surface nicks and some heavier scratches. A few surface dints and bruises including a couple of larger ones to handle. Likely repairs to some areas, most notably to the handle and at the join of the handle to the main body. Slight movement to hinges of lid. Hallmarks located just below the rim with further matching hallmarks to interior of lid and a maker's mark repeated to handle. Some rubbing and slight distortion to some of these marks but all still legible.
Later engraving reads 'Edgar Keel A token of affection from his friends on 1234 1938-1943'
