Lot 13

Lot Description

A Queen Anne Britannia silver basting spoon, in Hanoverian pattern with long rat-tail to heel, and scratch initials T H to reverse of terminal. Hallmarked London 1702. Length 14 1/4 inches (36.2 cm), weight 6.05 ozt (188 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Given the age, the spoon appears in good overall condition, displaying some expected tarnishing and surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks. Some slightly heavier wear and the metal appears a little thinner around the tip of the bowl, but it has generally faired well. Four struck marks are visible to stem reverse, bottom struck. Britannia, lion's head erased and date letter are all legible, fourth mark is indistinct, possibly a maker's mark?
