Lot Description

A George II plain silver pint mug, of baluster form to a flared footed base, with foliate capped double scroll handle. Hallmarked Richard Gurney & Co (Richard Gurney & Thomas Cook), London 1755. Height 5 1/4 inches (13.3 cm), weight 11.2 ozt (348.3 grams).

Displaying general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks throughout and commensurate with general use and age. On the front of the mug (opposite the handle), the surface of the metal feels a little lumpy, indicating a possible engraving removal? Slight impression visible to the interior around the join of the base of handle to the main body. Slight crack in the metal at the join of the top of the handle. Gap in the solder around the inner foot rim to the underside. Hallmarks located to the underside of base, appear a little rubbed but still clearly legible.
