Lot Description

A George III 18ct gold box, the rounded rectangular form decorated with floral borders in relief enclosing engine-turned panels. Hallmarked London 1810, maker's mark 'ID'.  Measuring 7.9 cm by 2.1 cm, weight 41.1 grams.

Appears in fairly good overall condition, the exterior displaying some light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing. Some darker tarnishing around the floral borders. Some slight rubbing and loss of surface detail to areas of the raised decoration but it is generally still good. Hinges appear in good working order. There are some acid test marks visible to the interior and a few spots of dark tarnish. The reverse of the lid displays many heavy scratched marks. Hallmarked to interior lid and base, some rubbing but mostly clearly legible.
