Lot Description

A William IV 18ct gold box, the rounded rectangular form ornately engraved throughout with flowers, insects, birds and foliate scrolls surrounding central cherubic figures, the thumb-piece set with three emerald cabochons. Hallmarked Alexander J Strachan, London 1830. Measuring 6.7 cm by 2 cm, gross weight 25 grams.

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some rubbing and slight loss of surface detail to areas of the decoration. A few slight knocks around the edges, in particular to one rounded corner where there appears to be a crack and a couple of small holes starting to appear. Hinges appear in good working order. The interior appears quite heavily scratched and impressions from the decoration are visible to the base. Also a possible acid test mark. Hallmarks a little rubbed but still clearly legible.
