Lot Description

A William IV silver snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, the rounded rectangular form with reeded sides and base, the hinged lid with presentation engraving and foliate scroll thumb-piece opening to a silver-gilt interior. Hallmarked Birmingham 1835. Length 8.2 cm, weight 90.4 grams.

Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Some slightly heavier wear around edges and corners with slight dints/nicks. A couple of small losses to reeded decoration on the front side. Significant rubbing and wear to engine turned decoration on lid, traces of engine turning. Hinged lid appears in good working order, rising very slightly when closed. Hallmarked to interior, some slight rubbing and distortion but mostly clear and legible.
