Lot Description
A George III plain silver tankard, of slightly tapering cylindrical form with lower girdle detail above a flared base, the domed and hinged lid with scrolled openwork thumb-piece to a scroll handle terminating with a heart motif. Hallmarked London 1795 with maker's mark I.K, probably John King or John Kidder. Maximum height to thumb-piece measuring 7 3/4 inches (19.5 cm), weight 22.59 ozt (702.5 grams).

Condition Report
Appears quite tarnished throughout with surface markings from the tissue paper it has been wrapped in, and would benefit from a clean and polish. Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks commensurate with the age and use. Some surface dints, bumps and bruises throughout. Split repair to foot. Further possible repairs to handle. Hinges to lid with slight sideways movement. Hallmarks located below the rim, these are a little rubbed but clearly legible. Also hallmarked to interior of lid, these are significantly worn and mostly illegible, part of maker's mark is still visible. Handle appears unmarked.
