Lot Description

An Edwardian silver twin-handled trophy cup, the tapering bowl with reeded rim above an arabesque frieze in relief and twin opposed scrolled cartouche, one with presentation engraving and the other vacant, raised on a knopped stem to a spread circular foot with decorative border detail. Hallmarked Birmingham 1901 with maker's mark H.B, possibly Henry Bourne. Height including handle 11.5" (29.2cm), weight 20.29 ozt (631 grams).

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some expected surface wear, marks, scratches and light tarnishing.

Some surface rubbing to areas of the decoration but generally still good.

Seam lines/solder visible either side of the knop on the stem. The stem above the knop is at a very slight lean. Possible repair?

Hallmarks are clear and legible.

Engraving reads, 'Presented by Clapton Stadium The Millfields Cup 550 Yards Hurdles November 1953.'
