Lot 72

Lot Description

A small Chinese export cylindrical cup, decorated in relief with serpentine dragons surrounding a vacant circular panel, within geometric borders, and with applied zoomorphic handle. Character marks to base, maker possibly Qing Xiang (Tientsin circa 1880-1900). Height 2.25" (5.8cm), weight 1.32 ozt (41 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Some heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.

Displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches with some minor edge nicks and dints to base rim.

Some slight loss of surface detail to areas of the decoration but overall still crisp.

There appears to be part of a thumb-piece or hinge present at the rim so it is possible that it originally had a lid or a different handle? Flood of solder around lower join of handle and visible seam line to interior showing signs of repair around top join.
