Lot Description
A nineteenth century Russian silver kovsh, of typical form, the circular shallow bowl engraved with a band of cyrillic lettering above foliate sprays with similar foliate motifs to handle. Russian assay marks for Moscow, 84 standard, with Master mark A.C over 1869 and a further silversmith's mark 'AM' in a rectangular punch. Maximum length 6.75" (17.2 cm), weight 5.1 ozt (158.6 grams).

Condition Report
Appears with tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.
Displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use and a few edge nicks. Circular outline of bowl very slightly uneven.
Some surface rubbing to engraved decoration but generally good overall.
Clearly visible seam or solder lines around the protruding lip, possibly repaired or added?
Main assay marks located to underside of bowl, these are a little distorted but still legible. Handle further marked 84 alongside repeated silversmith mark.
