Lot Description
A late 19th century continental silver box, of cushion form with shaped edge, the hinged opening cover embossed with classical mythological scene depicting robed figures and overflowing amphoras, possibly Dionysus and his Maenads, enclosed within a scroll surround, the sides embossed with putti representing the arts and further scroll detail. Hallmarked Samuel Boyce Landeck, Sheffield import 1899, with the Foreign mark, and two further Hanau pseudo-marks. Length 4" (10cm), weight 5.88 ozt (183 grams).
