Lot Description

A George IV silver vinaigrette, the rounded rectangular form with stippled and punch engraved borders enclosing floral and foliate motifs, the hinged lid further monogrammed and opening to a silver-gilt grille decorated with leaf patterns and simple drilled holes. Hallmarked Thomas Newbold, Birmingham 1826. Length 2.5cm, weight 7.2 grams.

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing consistent with the age and use. Residues of polish.

Some minor surface nicks and slightly heavier wear around edges and to corners.

Some surface wear to decoration but overall still fairly crisp and bright.

Both hinged lids appear in good working order and close securely. Main lid rises very slightly when closed so that there is a small gap.

Hallmarks to interior base and lid, rubbed but still legible. Part of a lion passant visible to reverse of lid.
