Lot Description

A William IV silver vinaigrette, the rounded rectangular form with stipple punched borders enclosing a flower motif to the base and a foliate scroll to the hinged lid with central initialled panel, and opening to a silver-gilt floral scroll pierced grille. Hallmarked Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1835. Length 3cm, weight 9.1 grams.

Total lot weight: No

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing consistent with the age and use.

Some minor surface nicks and slightly heavier wear around edges and to corners.

Some surface rubbing to decoration but mostly still good and bright.

Both hinged lids appear in good working order and close securely. Main lid rises very slightly when closed so that there is a small gap.

Hallmarks located to interior base and lid, partly rubbed but still legible. Grille further marked with lion passant and maker's mark. Residues of sponge present.
