Lot Description

A late 19th century 18ct gold sardonyx cameo pendant, with rose-cut diamond, cultured pearl and pearl surround.

Austrian marks. Length 7cms. 29.8gms.
Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Minor surface marks in keeping with minimal wear.
<li>General, varied discolouration to gold.
<li>Pendant with hinged brooch fittings, deficient pin.
<li>Agate cameo is carved as a woman playing pipes with a dancing young faun (presumably Pan).
<li>Agate with scratch marks to reverse, indistinct in mount.
<li>Diamonds appear fairly bright and well matched.
<li>Diamonds presumed foil back.
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>

<li>Two pearls appear cultured pearl replacements, slight glue at mounts.
<li>Remaining pearls untested for natural origin. Pearls are slightly off-shape with pearly white hue, slight orient and soft lustre. Approximate length of pearls 6 to 6.8mms.
