Full Lot Description
A mid-Victorian silver snuff box, of serpentine outline, bright-cut engraved all over with scrolling foliage, the hinged lid with presentation engraving and foliate chased thumb-piece. Hallmarked David Pettifer, Birmingham 1853. Maximum length 2.75" (7cm), gross weight 2.18 ozt (68 grams).

<li>Presentation engraving reads, 'Presented with a horse to Charles Warke Esqe. M.D. by a few of his friends in token of their respect for his many excellent qualities in both his public and private capacity. MAGLLLIGAN 1867'.
<li>Appears in fairly good overall condition.
<li>Displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.
<li>Some slightly heavier wear around edges and corners with minor surface nicks.
<li>Some light surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration but overall has retained much detail and remained bright.
<li>Hinges appear in good working order and lid closes flush and securely.
<li>Gilt interior with some surface wear and scratches and dirt/polish resides around the inside edge, but overall appears fairly clean.
<li>Hallmarks located to interior base and reverse of lid; these all clear and legible with minor rubbing.
