A composite early 20th century gold brooch, the central blister pearl, suspended within a split pearl, sapphire and diamond point crowned surround, to a plain bar surmount.
Length 6.2cms. 12.8gms.
Blister pearl untested for natural origin.

<li>Scratches and small marks. Varied gilt wear. Later safety chain.
<li>Diamonds in closed back settings and appear fairly well matched.
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate weight, colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>One with small chips.
<li>One split pearl deficient.
<li>Split pearls fairly well matched, slight varied discolouration and lustre. Two with wear to the nacre layers.
<li>Sapphires are in closed and open back settings and appear a light blue through to deep medium blue hues.
<li>Sapphires have minor to noticeable facet-edge abrasion. Five with varied nicks to chips.
<li>Blister pearl untested for natural origin.
<li>Bister pearl shows strong orient. Varied lustre, appears rough to areas of the reverse, side showing damage to the nacre layers.
<li>Estimated dimensions of blister pearl 18.5 by 9.4 by 5.5mms.
<li>Blister pearl mount electronically tests as approximately 18ct gold.
<li>Crowned surround electronically tests as approximately 9ct gold. Bar surmount stamped 9ct, maker's mark for Deakin & Francis.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
