Full Lot Description

A mid-20th century silver chalice of planished form, tapering into a wide, spread foot, engraved to base 'Given in Memory of Guy Copeland Stanbridge Vicar of St.Peter, Birmingham, From 1923 To 1959' and a rectangular, wood lined wafer box, opening to reveal detachable gilt wafer grille, engraved to base 'St. Peter's Church, Birmingham D.D F.G ST.MP August 1961', both with Saint Peter's Keys engraving to girdle and finial. Hallmarked S G M, Birmingham 1961. Height and weight of chalice 6.5" (16.5cm), 13.39 ozt (416.6 grams).

  • Areas to both items show some areas of dark tarnishing, and would benefit from a clean and polish.
  • Central, interior bowl shows a deep nick to base.
  • Edge to base shows some deeper scratches.
  • Base to wafer box shows some sticker residue.
  • Some deeper scratches are evident to hinged lid of wafer box especially.
  • Hinged lid to wafer box is in good working order.
  • Hallmarks are clear and legible, with maker's mark to grille appearing over stamped.
