Full Lot Description

An early 20th century silver mounted glass hip flask, the part leather covered glass body having a monogram engraved removable silver cup, and bulbous screw on hinged lid. Hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield, cup dated 1905 and lid dated 1901. Height 14.5cm.

  • Appears in fairly worn and tired overall condition.
  • Displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches all over.
  • Glass appears quite dirty inside.
  • Leather covering with some small losses and tears; and fading/discoloration to some areas. 
  • Silver mounts and cup appear dirty with heavy tarnishing. 
  • Cup with a couple of minor dints to base, and gilt interior. 
  • Bulbous lid also with some small dints and a more notable bash to the top, and a visible seam. 
  • The bulbous part of the lid is very loose in the mount. 
  • Hallmarks located to the cup and to the bulbous part of lid; neck and hinged section appear unmarked; maker's mark to cup is partly rubbed.
