Condition Report
- Both appear in fairly good overall condition given their age, displaying some general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing
- Residues of dried polish visible to some areas and crevices, and underneath
- Residues of wax inside each socket
- Some spots and patches of darker tarnishing
- Some minor surface nicks and dints, including around edges
- Both wobble very slightly on their bases
- Surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration, causing slight loss of detail or definition to some areas, however appears in good condition overall retaining much of the detail
- Engraved crests with heavier wear/rubbing
- Visible seams to both
- One of the candlesticks appears to have a small patch to the waisted section below the socket, possibly a repair? This same example looks to have floods of solder to the base underneath
- Hallmarks located to the inside edges of each base, these are a little clipped in places and punches filled with polish/dirt residues, but generally in good order and clearly legible
- Nozzles:
- Very likely original with matching decoration and crests
- Both marked with the lion passant, although quite worn and distorted; both also appear to have traces/edges of the maker's mark
- Both with visible seams and several knocks and dints around edges
- One nozzle with holes/cracks near to the maker's mark
- Generally a good fit to the sockets
