Full Lot Description
Military interest, a Victorian silver trophy with engraved crest for the 9th (Queen's Royal) Lancers, above the inscription, 'Presented by the Non-Com Officers of the 9th Lancers to those of the 72nd Highlanders in happy recollection of the kind instruction they received from them in the use of their new arm the Carbine at Sealkote May 1872', the body of tapering form to a circular foot, and modelled with two rifles and flags. Hallmarked S Smith & Son, London 1878. Height 23cm, gross weight 12.05ozt (374.8g).

Condition Report
- Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use
- With heavier tarnishing to some areas, including inside; also some blackening to some areas and crevices
- With some little surface dints and minor nicks all over
- Rim is a little misshapen
- Some knocks around the foot rim and it wobbles a little bit
- Floods of solder visible around the join of the base of the stem to the circular foot, possibly repaired?
- The long staff to one of the flags is broken and a large piece is missing
- Some loss of detail or definition to the engraved crests and inscription
- Hallmarks all legible with some rubbing in parts, mainly the maker's mark
- Also incised to the underside of the foot rim 'STEPHEN SMITH & SON 35 KING ST COVENT GARDEN' and numbered, probably '5182'
- Possibly previously attached to a plinth base?
