Full Lot Description

An Edwardian silver sugar caster in Art Nouveau style, the bellied shape body decorated with stylised foliate motifs, to a spread circular foot, and with a detachable domed cover. Hallmarked Elkington & Co Ltd., Birmingham 1903. Height to finial 17cm, weight 5.72ozt (178g).

  • Displaying some surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and general use
  • With some tarnishing all over and a little blackening and residues of dried polish to some areas and crevices
  • Notable dint to bellied section on one side, with further minor dints and nicks to other parts
  • Pull-off cover is a good fit
  • Slight knock to edge of foot rim
  • Slight flattening or loss of definition to areas of the decoration
  • Hallmarks rubbed in parts but still legible; good clear part hallmarks to the lid
  • Further impressed to the base ELKINGTON & Co and numbered '21668'
