Born in Sheffield, Omar Ramsden (1873 - 1939) was one of the leading silverware designers in the history of the UK.
He studied at the Sheffield School of Art but spent the majority of his life living and working in London.
In the 1910s Ramsden opened his silver studio with renowned designer Alwyn Carr. The two then started creating highly-coveted pieces.
Silver in Arts & Crafts styles including Medieval, Tudor, and more elements feature in Ramsden's work.
The designer operated from his London workshop, managing 20 staff until his death in 1939.
Despite many aspects of his private life being relatively unknown, he was a prominent individual in the Arts and Crafts Movement and his exceptional work remains popular to this day.
