Condition Report

A late 19th century tortoiseshell pique brooch. The oval-shape tortoiseshell with inlaid foliate detail and scalloped surround, to the later brooch fitting. Length 3.8cms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition fair. There are scratches and scuffs to the brooch in keeping the age of the piece. There are some scuffs and natural cracks to the tortoiseshell. The inlay is discoloured and damaged in several places. The are fractures to the tortoiseshell to the edging of some panels. Some of the metal panels have possibly been reattached with glue. The back fitting has been added at a later date. Weight 6.2gms.
