Condition Report

A mid 19th century gold and silver diamond and enamel mourning brooch. The old, single and rose-cut diamond bouquet, within a black enamel and scrolling surround, to the woven hair panel reverse with personal inscription. Estimated total diamond weight 0.40ct. Length 4.7cms. Weight 15.7gms.

    Overall condition good. Some surface wear and discolouration in keeping with age and general wear. Possible replacement pin and catch. Discolouration surrounding the catch. Some possible replacement stones. Hair panel in good condition. Diamonds fairly bright and well matched. Closed-back settings, some have slight yellow and green discolouration. Individual size prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Diamonds in fair to good condition with some nicks. The inscription reads 'Thomas Henington Ob 27th Nov 1838 at 59'.
