Condition Report

A late Victorian 22ct gold moonstone bar brooch, circa 1900. The graduated circular moonstone cabochon line, to the tapered sides. Hallmarks for Birmingham, partially illegible. Length 6.7cms. Weight 4.3gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Probably converted from a period ring.
  • Replacement fittings. Later ring for safety chain partially obscuring hallmarks.
  • Moonstone with fair white and pale blue adularescence, good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
