Condition Report

CARTIER - a Santos 100 XL chronograph wrist watch. Stainless steel case with yellow metal bezel. Reference 2740, serial 503216NX. Signed automatic calibre 8630 with quick date set. Silvered dial with Roman numeral hour markers, subsidiary recorder dials to three, six and nine, date aperture between four and five. Fitted to a signed black alligator strap with bi-metal double folding clasp. 41mm.

Purchasing information
  • Movement is currently functioning. Chronograph appears to be functioning but we have been unable to test the hour counter.
  • Movement has scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with general wear visible when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Dial appears to be in a generally good condition with no marks visible when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Hands appear to be in a generally good condition.
  • Glass appears free of significant scratches or marks when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Case shows scratches, marks and dints. There are some medium to heavy dints and pitting to the sides of the case.
  • Crown is currently functioning correctly; the surface has light scratches and marking. Quick date set does not appear to be functioning.
  • Strap is in a poor condition with noticeable wear, marks, creasing and discolouration.
  • Buckle shows noticeable marks and scratches.

    This lot comes with an unrelated spuriously signed box but no papers.

    Due to opening of the case back we recommend this watch is re-sealed by an authorised technician to ensure any stated water resistance is retained.
