Condition Report

An early Victorian gold enamel and diamond memorial snake brooch. The coiled snake with diamond shapes to its body, decorated in black enamel, to the diamond-set eyes and open mouth, with personal engraving to the reverse. Length 4cms. Weight 7.3gms.

    The condition of this lot is fair, with surface scratches and chips to the metal and enamel consistent with age and wear. The open mouth is likely to be missing a drop, which is entirely deficient. The engraving to the reverse reads 'Mary Sykes Ob 25 Feb 1844 At 76'.
