Condition Report

An early 20th century gold gem-set snake pendant. The coiled snake, with cushion-shape ruby and rose-cut diamond crest and rose-cut diamond eyes. Length 3.9cms. Weight 5.1gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Converted from a brooch, wear to the gilt finish, slight uneveness and slight discolouration where previous fittings were.
  • Hook fitting to wear as a pendant, might require attention.
  • Possible replacement gems.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Ruby is a medium slightly purplish red hue. Moderately profuse inclusions, some surface reaching.
  • Estimated dimensions of ruby 4 by 3.5 by approximately 2.1mms.
