Condition Report

An early 20th century 15ct gold amethyst, demantoid garnet and split pearl brooch. Of openwork design, the cushion-shape amethyst, with circular-shape demantoid garnet and split pearl scrolling surround. Length 2.8cms. Weight 4.2gms. This piece contains the green, white and violet hues associated with the Suffragette movement.

  • Amethyst is a pale purple hue, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Demantoid garnets are a medium yellowish green hue, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Demantoid garnets are in good condition with some minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Split pearls are a creamy white hue, with good lustre and iridescence.
