Condition Report

A pair of early 20th century 9ct gold opal and demantoid garnet foliate earrings. Each designed as an oval opal cabochon trefoil, with circular-shape demantoid garnet stem, suspended from a similarly-set spacer and surmount. Length 3.6cms. Weight 3.3gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Opals are a well matched, with a whitish body colour and good play-of-colour, displaying a range of hues.

  • Demantoid garnets are a well vibrant, medium slightly yellowish green hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.
  • Stones generally in good condition with some abrasions, one opal and one demantoid garnet with minor chip.

  • Stamped 9ct to screw-backs.
  • With screw-back fittings for non-pierced ears.
  • Fittings possibly replacements.
  • Small file mark and slight acid discolouration to reverse of one earring.
