Condition Report

An early 19th century garnet and split pearl mourning ring. The oval garnet cabochon, within a split pearl surround, to the partially engraved band with split pearl line sides. Weight 6.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Band shows evidence of repair/ resize.
  • Garnet medium pinkish brown, with a good saturation of colour. Minor abrasion visible with magnification.
  • Split pearls vary in colour, some with a more yellow body colour and others more grey. Some are possible replacements.
  • Visible blemishes to some.
  • Inner personal inscription reads 'Marianne Johnes ob 4 july, 1811 at 27'
  • Ring size L.
