A pair of silver pocket watches.

Description

Condition Report

A silver key wind open face pocket watch, the white enamel dial with hourly applied black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial to six o'clock, bordered by a minute track, round case, hallmarked Chester 1896, with engine turned design and vacant cartouche to rear, fitted with an unsigned gilt full plate going barrel movement with club tooth lever escapement, split bi-metal compensation balance. Case diameter 52mm. Together with a similar example by J. G. Graves.

    Silver open face pocket watch. Movement is currently functioning, movement has marks and tarnishing. Dial has marks and shows cracks. Hands have marks and noticeable tarnishing. Glass has marks and scratches. Case has marks, scratches and tarnishing, rear of the case has more visible scratches and wear to the decoration, hinges have wear to the corners, inner cover and inside the rear cover have letters and patterns scratched into them, pendent and bow show marks and tarnishing, bow is loose J.G Graves pocket watch. Movement is currently functioning, movement has marks and tarnishing. Dial shows marks. Minute hand is broken, seconds hand is missing, hour hand shows some distortion, hands have marks and scratches. Glass has marks and visible scratches, glass also has chips to the edge with a noticeable chip to one o'clock. Case has marks and scratches, case also has dints, rear of the case has wear to the decoration, pendent and bow show tarnishing, wear and marks, bow is loose, pin attaching the pendent to the bow is exposed.
