A mid 19th century gold locket

Description

Condition Report

A mid 19th century gold front and back locket, of circular outline, the front and back hinged panels with foliate engraved detail and engine turned border, opening to reveal a photograph compartment, to the scroll embossed surround and surmount. Repair to inside. Length 5.2cms. Weight 16.3gms.

    Overall condition fair. Minor surface scratches in keeping with general wear. Obvious repair work and discolouration to inside panel. Personal inscription reading 'John Hawkins Died June 9th 1850. Aged 55'. Brooch fitting is a possible replacement.
