Condition Report

A mid Victorian gold coral mourning necklace, circa 1865. Designed as five graduated circular coral cabochon and cannetille panel drops, with swag spacers, suspended from a snake-link chain. Length 40cms. Weight 16.5gms.

Purchasing information
    The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Slight kinks and possible small repairs to some of the links. Drops possibly not original to the necklace. Engraved in sections to the reverse of most of the drops "B.E.W., Ob't June 27th, 1867, At 23 years." Slight discolouration. Possible small repairs to the rope-twist surrounds. Probable glazed panel deficient to principal drop reverse. Please see important notices for purchasers in the catalogue and on our website for Coloured Gemstones. Coral untested for natural colour origin. Coral are a well matched slightly mottled orangey pink hue. Cabochons slightly irregularly shaped, some small surface blemishes.
