Condition Report

A ruby and diamond cluster bar brooch. The late 19th century old-cut diamond and calibre-cut ruby floral cluster, to the early 20th century bar. Estimated total diamond weight 0.85ct. Length 5.7cms. Weight 6.1gms. With associated case.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Composite piece. The cluster dates from the late 19th century, the bar brooch dates from the early 20th century, metals differ slightly in hue. Minimal soft solder to the joints at the reverse. Rubies pinkish-red, moderate to good colour saturation. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions. Gemstones in fair condition with nicks and chips. Individual size prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Some have more noticeable yellow and brownish-yellow hues. Scattered to large inclusions, some visible to the unaided eye. Diamonds in fair condition with nicks and chips, principal diamond chipped to one side.
